50 th Anniversary Photo Contest

We are launching a special PC/Morocco 50 th Anniversary PCVs , RPCVs, and staff (including LCFs) photo contest; we are hoping to get on-the-job photos featuring PCVs at work, with their communities, or in a cross cultural activity representing all four sectors. The deadline of September 8 th 2011 is passed but photos still welcome

Here are some guidelines:

• Photos should be captioned;
• The focus is on “On-the-job photos” featuring PCVs at work; and illustrating the diverse range of community and Volunteer experiences;
• We need well composed photos with proper lighting and focus that can be enlarged;
• Photos representing different sectors, and PCVs activities.

The categories of the photos could include:

• Volunteers at Work: Photos in this category highlight Volunteers in action, in their sites, in training, and integrating with Counterparts and communities.
• Faces of Morocco : Photos in this category highlight the cross-cultural exchange involved in the Volunteer experience, including community members, host families, Counterparts, and the network of faces that make the Volunteer service possible here in Morocco.
• Landscapes of Morocco : Photos in this category highlight the landscapes, and environmental conservation efforts in the places and communities where Volunteers are working and training.
• Staff (In)sight : This category highlights the network of support for Volunteers in their training and service.

Entries will be evaluated based on creativity and impact in the following categories:

• Providing technical assistance
• Sharing American culture overseas
• Sharing overseas culture with America
• Photographic technical merit

For a fair selection process, we’d consider a committee (staff and PCVs - VAC) for the previewing of all the photos first to get a first-hand overview of all the entries submitted, and later proceed to the individual judging.

All submissions will be added to our photo library and will be used to showcase PCVs’ work. The winning photos will be enlarged mounted and exhibited at the PC Office. We could also use the photos in commemorating the 50 th anniversary events and PC exhibits, PC/Morocco brochure and hopefully the website and other outreach materials.

As you know, the competition is an opportunity to recognize talents, encourage PCVs to record their amazing experiences and capture special moments of their service and events they've contributed to in their communities. The contest is also an opportunity to enrich our photo library and build in a human dimension archive of PCVs at work and PC Morocco program progress.
