Saida Fikri’s Concert Tour La Gestion de la tournée artistique de Saida FIKRI Web : http://www.saidafikri.net Email : concert@saidafikri.net
Fri. April 18, 2008 -- 8PM Washington, DC Rossyln Spectrum Theatre 1611 N. Kent Street Arlington, VA 22209
Known for her unique style in fusing modern and traditional melodies, Saida Fikri composes and performs poetic songs in a combination of Morrocan dialect, Classical Arabic, French, and English. Saida Fikri’s music displays a profound concern for the hardships, struggles and suffering of the ordinary people of Morocco. Her songs dared to be the voice of the Moroccan masses at a time when it was politically difficult to do so. But her themes -- social justice, peace, alienation, exile and tolerance -- are universal to humanity.
Said Alexander Khan of World Rhythms & Melodies, LLC. “Saida Fikri’s DC concert is now fully paid for by sponsorship, and the Moroccan TV station 2M will be filming the concert. For the latter reason, I must fill up every seat in the theatre, and I must be certain of it before the day of the event.
I would like to offer the Friends of Morocco a block of 25 seats, free of charge, to the guests of your choosing. The invitations can be in the name of the Friends of Morocco. I would only ask that you emphasize non-Moroccans amongst your contacts, if only because we have the Moroccans in the DC area largely covered, and also because I would like Saida Fikri to have greater exposure to an American audience. I realize this is rather late, since the concert is on the 18th, but both the sponsorship and the 2M just happened within the last week.
